Dogubeyazit's entire appeal is defined by two things: Mount Ararat looming over everything to the north, and Ishak Pasha Palace perched on its ledge above the old town. These two sights draw climbers and travellers from around the world to this remote border town. The town itself is a practical base rather than a destination — the interest is outside it.
