Getting There

Erzincan has an airport about 9 kilometres south of the centre, with several daily Turkish Airlines flights to Istanbul and seasonal connections to Ankara and Izmir. A taxi or the airport shuttle handles the transfer into town.

By rail, Erzincan is on the Ankara–Kars line. The Doğu Ekspresi (Eastern Express) — Turkey's signature long-distance scenic train — stops here, around 22 hours from Ankara and 4-5 hours short of Kars. It is one of the great Turkish rail journeys.

By bus, the otogar (bus station) east of the city centre is a major junction for eastern Anatolia, with direct services to Erzurum (about 3 hours), Trabzon (about 6 hours over the Zigana Pass), Sivas, Ankara, and Istanbul. Long-distance coaches are reliable, frequent and comfortable.
