The Seljuk Civilisation Museum is housed in the Gevher Nesibe complex, one of Kayseri's great medieval monuments. That setting matters: the former hospital and madrasa make the displays on Seljuk architecture, science, medicine, craft, and urban life feel rooted in the city rather than abstractly historical.
For most travellers it is the strongest museum stop in Kayseri. The collection helps explain why the city's stone portals, tomb towers, mosques, and old commercial buildings look the way they do. Visit before walking the Hunat Hatun complex or the castle, and the carved stonework around town starts to make more sense.
