Getting There

Konya is well-connected by high-speed rail and by air; the bus network is also extensive.

By train. The YHT high-speed train is the easiest way to reach Konya from anywhere on Turkey's western half. Direct services run from Istanbul (Pendik or Söğütlüçeşme stations, around 4 hours) and from Ankara (1 hour 45 minutes). The main station, Konya Garı, is on the western edge of the city, and there is also a YHT-only station at Selçuklu further north — both are connected to the centre by tram in 20–30 minutes.

By air. Konya Airport (KYA) has direct flights from Istanbul (several daily, around 75 minutes), Izmir, and a handful of European cities. The airport is 13 km northeast of the centre; airport buses (Havaş) run to the centre for a modest fare.

By bus. Konya's otogar (intercity bus station) is on the northern edge of the city and is one of the busier in Turkey, with overnight services to Istanbul, Antalya, Izmir, Ankara, and the eastern cities. Coaches are comfortable and cheap; tram and city bus from the otogar to the centre take 30–40 minutes.

By car. Konya is on a major motorway running north–south through Anatolia, with fast roads to Ankara, Antalya, and Cappadocia. Parking in the city centre is limited; most hotels have lots.
