At 828 metres, the Burj Khalifa is the tallest structure on the planet and the centrepiece of Downtown Dubai. The tower tapers in a series of setbacks inspired by the Hymenocallis flower, and on a clear day you can see Iran from the upper floors.
Two observation decks are open to visitors: At the Top on the 124th and 125th floors, and the pricier At the Top Sky on the 148th. Book tickets online in advance, especially for the sunset slot. The Dubai Fountain at the tower's base puts on a choreographed water-and-light show every thirty minutes after dark.
