Dubai Marina is a 3.5-kilometre man-made canal city built on reclaimed land in the New Dubai district, surrounded by some of the city's tallest residential towers. The Marina Walk promenade rings the water with restaurants, cafes, and bars with outdoor terrace seating. At weekends, it is one of the busiest and most sociable parts of the city.
The adjacent JBR (Jumeirah Beach Residence) open-air mall connects directly to The Walk, a kilometre-long pedestrian strip along the beach. The area has a younger, more international feel than older parts of the city, and the restaurant quality is generally higher than the tourist strips near the airport.
