The Beach is the low-rise, open-air development running along the sand at Jumeirah Beach Residence, on the seaward edge of the Marina. After the enclosed mega-malls it feels refreshingly outdoors: a grid of walkways lined with cafés, restaurants, and shops opening straight onto a free public beach, with the Marina towers rising behind and the sea in front.
It is the place to come for a swim and a stroll rather than serious sightseeing — sun loungers and watersports on the sand, an outdoor cinema and splash park, and plenty of casual places to eat with a view of the water. Busy in the evenings and at weekends, when the whole strip turns into the Marina's seaside promenade.
