The Dubai Frame is a 150-metre-tall picture frame-shaped structure standing at the edge of Zabeel Park, deliberately positioned so that the older parts of Dubai appear through one side of the frame and the modern skyline through the other. It opened in 2018 and was designed by Mexican architect Fernando Donis, though the project was mired in a dispute about unpaid design fees.
The attraction has three elements: a ground-level museum tracing Dubai's history, the 150-metre-high sky bridge connecting the two towers (with a glass floor section), and the views from the top on both sides. On a clear day you can see the Burj Khalifa on one side and the old Creek and Deira on the other. The conceptual framing of old versus new Dubai is heavy-handed but effective. Tickets should be booked online; the experience takes about 45 minutes.
