Fujairah Museum

Fujairah Museum stands near the fort in the old part of the city and holds the emirate's main collection of archaeological finds and historical objects. The displays cover pre-Islamic Arabia through the Islamic period, with particular depth on the Bronze Age sites that dot the Fujairah landscape — Khor Kalba, Qidfa, and the finds from the ancient cemetery at Qusaydah. Weapons, pottery, jewellery, and incense burners make up much of the collection, alongside a heritage section on traditional Fujairah life: fishing, pearl diving, and falconry.

The museum is modest in scale but well laid out, with information panels in Arabic and English. It is best visited as part of a morning that combines the fort — a short walk away — with the museum before the heat of the day sets in. Entry is inexpensive and the staff are helpful if you have questions about specific objects.

Open Saturday to Thursday, typically 8am to 1pm and 3pm to 6pm. Closed Fridays.

A story
Among the museum's most striking exhibits are Bronze Age weapons recovered from Dibba — the site of a major early Islamic battle in 632 AD, fought immediately after the death of the Prophet Muhammad when several Arabian tribes attempted to break away from the nascent caliphate. The battlefield is just up the road, and the museum puts the artefacts in context.
