The Abdi Darun Complex grew around the grave of Abd al-Maziddin, an Islamic judge who died around 861. A small mausoleum was built in the 12th century, expanded in the Timurid period, replaced again in the 19th century, and given its present form in the early 20th.
It sits east of Samarkand's main monument trail, close to Ishratkhana Mausoleum. The complex is a quieter stop for travellers interested in the city's layered religious history.
