The war sites are spread over a hundred kilometres of countryside. Day tours from Hue or Dong Ha are the easiest way to see them; almost every guesthouse in Hue runs a DMZ tour. Hiring a car and driver for a day from Dong Ha gives you control over the route and the pace. Motorbike is fine for confident riders, but distances along Highway 9 are real.
