Quang Tri is a place you visit for one reason: to understand the war. The main attractions are the war sites scattered across the surrounding province — the citadel ruins, the cemeteries, the bridge at the Ben Hai river, the tunnels at Vinh Moc, and the Khe Sanh combat base further west. None take long on their own; together they make a sober, two-day circuit.
