Sapa's main attraction is the surrounding landscape — the terraced valleys, the ethnic minority villages, and the mountains that loom above it all. Fansipan is the obvious headline but the real draw for most visitors is the trekking through the paddies and hill-tribe settlements below. The town itself is a base, not a destination.
