The ancient Al-Jufainah dam was part of the Great Marib Dam's irrigation network. Located 8 km south-west of the centre of Marib, it served as a secondary structure managing water distribution across the agricultural lands of the valley. The remaining stone sluice walls give a sense of the engineering ambition of the Sabaean kingdom, which turned this arid region into productive farmland for over a thousand years.
Visit alongside the main Marib Dam ruins for context. The site is unguarded and free to access, though you will need a local guide and a vehicle to reach it.
