Bowral is about 130 kilometers southwest of Sydney, around 90 minutes by car on the Hume Highway. The Southern Highlands Xplorer train runs from Central Station in Sydney to Moss Vale, the nearest station, with some services also continuing to Bowral's own smaller station. The train journey takes about two hours.
Most visitors come by car, which makes it easier to explore the surrounding wine region and villages like Berrima. A hire car from Sydney is the most practical option if you want to see more than the Bowral town center.
