Broke is about 160 kilometres north of Sydney. By car, take the M1 Pacific Motorway to Wahroonga then the F3 freeway north to the Cessnock or Singleton exits; Broke lies roughly between the two. The drive takes about two hours from Sydney in light traffic.
There is no public transport to Broke itself. The nearest train stations are Cessnock (about 20 km southeast) and Singleton (about 30 km north), both served by NSW TrainLink from Sydney Central, but neither has easy onward connections to Broke. A hire car from Newcastle or Sydney is the practical option for anyone without their own vehicle.
