Byron Bay Bluesfest

Bluesfest is one of Australia's best music festivals, held on a farm at Tyagarah, about 10 kilometres north of Byron Bay, every Easter long weekend. Despite the name, the lineup is far broader than blues: the festival has hosted Bob Dylan, Santana, Lenny Kravitz, Joni Mitchell, Leonard Cohen, and dozens of international acts across five stages over five days. The atmosphere is relaxed and well-organised — no camping chaos, no mud pits, good food and beer.

Tickets sell out months in advance for the bigger years; check the website well before Easter if you want to go. The festival site is well set up with shuttle buses running from Byron Bay town throughout the event. If you can time a visit to Byron around Easter, Bluesfest is worth planning your trip around.
