St Patrick's Church

The Catholic St Patrick's, built in stages from the 1880s in red brick with sandstone trim, sits on a hill at the southern end of Channon Street with a commanding view back over town. The twin-towered facade is one of the most recognisable in Gympie.

The interior is unusually rich for a regional church, with Italian marble altarpieces and a fine timber ceiling — a reminder that Gympie's Irish-Catholic mining population had money to spend on a proper church at the height of the gold rush.
