The cream-coloured town hall on Caledonian Hill, with its red-roofed clock tower above a roundabout, is the building most people picture when they think of Gympie. It was completed in 1939 in a stripped-classical style, replacing a 19th-century predecessor, and is still in use by the Gympie Regional Council.
The small landscaped roundabout in front, with palms and rockwork, makes a good place to start a walk down Mary Street.
