The Mount Isa Rodeo is the city's biggest annual event and one of Australia's major rodeos. For a few days in August the city fills with riders, stock crews, country music, food stalls, families, and visitors who have driven a very long way to be there.
If you can time a visit for rodeo week, do. It turns Mount Isa's mining-and-outback identity into a public party rather than something you only read in museums.
