May to September is the easiest season for Mount Isa. Days are warm, nights can be cool, and outdoor stops such as City Lookout and Lake Moondarra are far more pleasant than in summer.
Summer is hot and can be brutal, with daytime temperatures often in the mid to high 30s C and humid wet-season storms. The Mount Isa Rodeo usually makes August the liveliest month in town.
