Seppeltsfield Winery

Seppeltsfield is one of the most historic and beautiful properties in the Barossa, set along a famous avenue of Canary Island palms that was planted in the 1930s. The winery was established in 1851 by Joseph Seppelt, and the property is now a UNESCO World Heritage-nominated site. Beyond the main winery, Seppeltsfield has grown into a food, wine and art precinct, with resident chefs, art galleries and a day spa.

The approach along Seppeltsfield Road is one of the great winery drives in Australia — the long, straight avenue of palms leading to the historic bluestone cellars is as photogenic as anything in the valley. The Para Vintage Tawny is the signature wine, aged in old casks in a labyrinthine warren of cellars beneath the property.

A story
Every year since 1878, Seppeltsfield has released a 100-year-old tawny port — the only winery in the world to maintain an unbroken century-old release. Visitors can book a tasting that includes their birth-year vintage, making it arguably the most personal wine experience in Australia.
