Getting There

Mount Gambier sits on the Princes Highway roughly 450 km south-east of Adelaide and 290 km west of Melbourne. By car it is a comfortable five-hour drive from Adelaide or three and a half hours from Melbourne — either way it slots naturally into a Princes Highway road trip.

By air: Mount Gambier Regional Airport (IATA: MGB) receives regular flights from Adelaide operated by Regional Express (Rex). The flight takes about an hour and is the quickest option from Adelaide if you don't have a car. The airport is about 15 km north of the city centre.

By bus: Firefly Express and other coach services connect Mount Gambier to both Adelaide and Melbourne. The journey takes around five hours from either direction. Buses arrive at the Mount Gambier Bus Station on Commercial Street East.

By train: There is no passenger rail service to Mount Gambier. The former railway line closed to passengers in 1995, and the old station building now serves as a heritage site.
