Alum Cliffs, also known by the Aboriginal name Tulampanga, is a short walk to a lookout high above the Mersey River. The track is not long, but the payoff is strong: forest, cliffs, and a sudden view into the gorge.
It is a good counterpoint to the caves because it puts the limestone country back in daylight. The site also has Aboriginal significance because of ochre found nearby, so stay on the track and treat it as more than just a viewpoint.
