Trowunna Wildlife Sanctuary

Native wildlife sanctuary known for Tasmanian devils, wombats, quolls, and conservation work.

Trowunna Wildlife Sanctuary is one of the most worthwhile wildlife stops in northern Tasmania. It focuses on native species, especially Tasmanian devils, wombats, quolls, kangaroos, and birds, with conservation and breeding work behind the visitor experience.

Go for one of the guided talks rather than just walking through. Seeing a Tasmanian devil up close is memorable, but the better part is understanding why these animals need managed populations and what sanctuaries can, and cannot, do.
