Fossil Bluff is a compact coastal stop just west of town, with layered sandstone, beach walking, and a lookout over the coast. The cliffs are known for fossils, including finds that helped put Wynyard's name into Australian palaeontology.
Low tide is best if you want to look closely at the rock layers. Even without fossil hunting, it is an easy place to picnic, stretch your legs, and see Table Cape from below.
