Geeveston's Platypus Walk follows the Kermandie River beside Heritage Park, with a viewing platform over quieter water. It is short and easy, but it has a real purpose: this is one of the better-known public places in southern Tasmania to try for a wild platypus sighting.
Go early or late, keep quiet, and give yourself time. In the middle of the day it may be only a pleasant riverside walk.
