Perth's shopping runs the gamut from the straightforward CBD malls (Hay Street and Murray Street) through the Fremantle Markets' Victorian building to commercial galleries selling Indigenous art from remote WA communities. The city is not a great shopping destination in the international sense, but it has genuine strengths: Aboriginal art, Australian opals, local craft beer, and Margaret River food and wine products all make for better souvenirs than anything in the airport shops. Subiaco's Rokeby Road and the Fremantle Markets area offer the most interesting independent retail.
