A low range of ironstone hills immediately south of town, geologically among the oldest on the planet. The Archer Drive loop runs through the range and gives access to walk trails ranging from short lookouts to longer ridge walks. In August and September the verges erupt in banksias, hakeas, eucalypts in flower, and several species of the local "Ravensthorpe bell".
Outside spring it is still a fine drive — gum-scented, almost empty of traffic — and the views from the high points stretch to the coast.
