Rima Rau Burial Cave

A shallow limestone cave on the south side of the island that was used as a battlefield burial site in pre-Christian times. The skulls and bones of the warriors are still visible in piles where they were left, lit by daylight filtering through the open mouth.

The cave is on private land and access is by short guided walk only — your accommodation can arrange a visit with the family who own the site. A small fee is paid to the landowner. Bring a torch and respect the place: this is a memorial, not a tourist attraction in the polished sense.
