Lavena Coastal Walk

The Lavena Coastal Walk runs along the southeast coast of Taveuni from Lavena village, passing through coastal forest, along beaches, and through traditional Fijian villages before reaching a waterfall at the end of the trail. The walk takes about two to three hours each way and offers a different perspective on the island than the interior forest trails — here you are on the coast, with sea views and a sense of the villages strung along the shore.

The trail ends at a waterfall that drops into a pool at the edge of the sea, and you can swim back if the current is calm. The walk passes through land owned by the Lavena community, and a small fee is paid at the village at the start. A guide is useful but not essential. The coastal scenery — beach, reef, coconut palms, and the backdrop of Taveuni's forested peaks — is beautiful.
