Getting There

There are no direct intercontinental flights to Bora Bora. All visitors arrive via Tahiti-Faaa International Airport (PPT) near Papeete, then take a domestic Air Tahiti flight to Bora Bora (BOB). The domestic flight takes 45 minutes. Air Tahiti operates multiple flights daily, but they book out fast in peak season — reserve your domestic connection at the same time as your international flight.

International connections to Tahiti: Air France from Paris (nonstop, about 22 hours), Air Tahiti Nui from Paris, Los Angeles, and Tokyo, United from San Francisco and Los Angeles, Air New Zealand from Auckland (1.5 hours — the easiest approach from the south Pacific).

From the airport on Bora Bora: The airport is on a small motu (reef islet) off the northern tip of the main island. Hotels send boat transfers to collect guests; if you are not staying at a resort, water taxis are available at the quay. There is no bridge to the main island — all access is by boat.
