Cathedral Cove

White-sand cove and sea arch inside Te Whanganui-o-Hei Marine Reserve.

Cathedral Cove is the reason many travellers come to Hahei. A huge natural arch cuts through the white headland, joining two small beaches with clear water, pale cliffs, and Te Hoho Rock standing just offshore.

The cove sits inside Te Whanganui-o-Hei Marine Reserve, so the water is often good for snorkelling when conditions are calm. You can reach it on foot when the track is open, or by kayak or boat from Hahei. In high season, go early; this is one of the Coromandel's headline sights.
