Kiwi Experience runs hop-on hop-off bus passes across a network of routes covering most of New Zealand, with the flexibility to stop wherever you like and continue on the next bus. It's popular with younger backpackers and has a well-earned reputation as a party-heavy operation — you'll almost certainly end up in the louder, bigger hostels along the route. If that's your scene, the social side is a genuine draw and you'll meet people quickly. If you prefer quieter travel, consider Magic Bus or renting a campervan instead. Passes cover different loops: North Island, South Island, or full country. Book ahead in peak season (December–February).
