Raumati Beach is about 55 km north of central Wellington, a straightforward journey by train or car.
By train is the easiest option. Metlink's Kāpiti Line runs frequent electric services from Wellington station to Paraparaumu, which is the nearest station to Raumati — about a 15-minute walk from the village centre, or a short taxi ride. The journey from Wellington takes around 50–55 minutes. Trains run roughly half-hourly on weekdays and hourly on weekends.
By car take State Highway 1 north from Wellington. The drive takes around 45–50 minutes in normal traffic, though the Paremata hill can slow things at peak hour on Friday afternoons. Parking in Raumati village is free and easy outside summer weekends.
Kapiti Coast Airport (code PPQ) is at Paraparaumu, about 3 km north of Raumati. Air Chathams and other small operators fly limited routes — it is not a useful option for most visitors arriving from outside the region.
