One of the most complete Edwardian houses in the Southern Hemisphere. David Theomin, a wealthy merchant, built Olveston in 1906, and his daughter Dorothy lived there until her death in 1966 — at which point she left it to the city exactly as it was. The result is a time capsule: 35 rooms of original furniture, artworks, Japanese bronzes, silver, and domestic objects, all untouched. Guided tours run throughout the day. It's a remarkably intimate window into the life of an affluent Edwardian family, and the house itself is beautiful.
