Reefton's best sights sit close to town and reward walking. The heritage trail, School of Mines, and old powerhouse tell the gold-and-electricity story; Blacks Point adds a more personal mining-town museum a short drive or ride away.
The surrounding hills matter too. If you have more time, use Reefton as a softer entry into Victoria Forest Park, where short walks and tougher tramps push quickly into beech forest and old mining country.
