Reefton is on State Highway 7, inland from Greymouth and north of the Lewis Pass route. It works well as a stop between the West Coast and Nelson, or as a detour from the coast if you want a less obvious town with real history.
A car is the simplest way to visit. Buses are limited, and many walks, trailheads, and mining relics are easier with your own transport, especially if you plan to continue into Victoria Forest Park.
