Funafuti is not a place of museums and monuments. Almost everything worth doing here is about the lagoon, the islets, the few wartime remains, and the rhythm of life on the runway. Spend a day on a boat trip to the conservation area, an afternoon walking from one end of Fongafale to the other, and an evening watching the kids play football on the airstrip. That is the local sightseeing list, and it is enough.
