Vaitupu offers no curated sightseeing. The reasons to spend time here are the village of Asau, the country's only senior secondary school at Motufoua, the two small interior ponds, and the rare experience of being on an outer Tuvaluan island that has slightly more going on than most. Walk, swim on the lagoon side, sit in the maneapa, and look at the memorial to the dormitory fire at the school.
