Smaller and more remote than Matevulu, the Riri Blue Hole is reached by a short boat trip through mangrove-lined channels — and the journey through the mangroves is half the appeal. The water is just as startlingly clear and just as vivid in colour as its more famous counterpart. Because it takes more effort to reach, you will almost always find it quieter.
Local guides lead kayak and canoe trips to the site from the nearby village. The combination of the mangrove paddle and the swimming hole makes this a more complete excursion than a simple roadside stop, and the setting — surrounded by dense vegetation — feels genuinely remote even though Luganville is not far away.
