Church of St. Paraskevi

The Church of St. Paraskevi (Kisha e Shën Premtes) stands close to the river in the lower part of Përmet and is one of the town's two designated cultural monuments. It represents a good example of Byzantine-influenced Orthodox church architecture — the style that spread through the southern Albanian highlands during the Ottoman period, when Christian communities maintained their own places of worship under varying degrees of restriction.

The church was declared a cultural monument of Albania in 1963 and remains on the national registry of protected religious buildings. It is modest in scale but well-proportioned, and the surrounding area is pleasantly quiet. The other major church in the area — St. Elijah's at Buhal, a few kilometres north — is also worth seeking out if you have transport and an interest in the region's ecclesiastical heritage.
