The narrow lanes around the New Bazaar, just north-east of Skanderbeg Square, have become one of the most pleasant central neighbourhoods to wander. Painted facades, fruit and cheese stalls, small craft shops, and a high concentration of traditional Albanian restaurants (Oda among them).
Come for an unhurried morning at the market, stay for lunch. The atmosphere is closer to a small Mediterranean town than a Balkan capital.
