The Gevorgian Seminary occupies a handsome two-storey building beside the cathedral, with arcades opening onto the Mother See's gardens. Founded in 1874 by Catholicos Gevorg IV, it has trained generations of Armenian priests and has long been a centre of religious scholarship.
The seminary's interior is generally not open to casual visitors, but the courtyard is part of the broader pilgrimage path through the Mother See complex. The newer manuscript library — the Vatche and Tamar Manoukian Manuscript Library — sits next door and houses rare religious manuscripts in carefully controlled conditions.
