Ruben Sevak Museum

Small museum dedicated to the Armenian poet killed during the 1915 genocide

A modest museum within the Mother See complex devoted to Ruben Sevak, the Armenian poet and physician who was among the intellectuals arrested in Constantinople on 24 April 1915 and killed soon after — a date now commemorated as Armenian Genocide Remembrance Day. The collection includes manuscripts, photographs, and personal belongings rescued by his French widow, who eventually donated them to Etchmiadzin.

The exhibition is small and quickly seen, but provides a quiet, human angle on a chapter of Armenian history that is hard to take in at a single sitting. Captions are mainly in Armenian, with some English. Combine with a visit to the cathedral treasury for a fuller picture of the Mother See's collections.
