Khoranashat Monastery is one of Shamshadin's great monuments, set near Chinari close to the Azerbaijan border. The complex has broad interior spaces and strong stonework, and on a calm day it feels wonderfully far from Armenia's usual visitor route.
Do not treat it as an ordinary sightseeing stop. Conditions near the border can change, and travellers should check current local advice before attempting the visit.
