Nor Varagavank is the most graceful monument in the Berd area. The monastery sits on a wooded slope near Varagavan, with pale stone walls and carved details that reward slow looking, especially around the portals.
The road is not the smoothest, which helps keep the place quiet. Bring water, leave time for the approach, and do not hurry away once you have reached the churchyard; the setting is half the reason to come.
