Patscherkofelbahn

Cable car from Igls to Innsbruck’s rounded house mountain and high alpine walking trails.

The Patscherkofelbahn is Innsbruck's quieter mountain lift, running from Igls up the broad, rounded Patscherkofel rather than into the sharper drama of the Nordkette. That softer profile is part of the appeal: the top opens into wide views, easy alpine paths, and a less frantic feel than the city's most famous cable-car outing.

It is a strong choice if you want mountain air without committing to a hard hike. In summer, walkers use it for panoramic trails and the alpine garden area; in winter, the mountain has a local ski history that includes Olympic runs. The base is reachable by public transport from Innsbruck, which makes it very easy to fit into a short stay.
