The wine country around Leibnitz is at its best from May through October. Spring brings the vineyards into leaf, summer is warm and settled with long evenings, and the autumn harvest season — September and October — is the most convivial time to visit, with Heurigen (wine taverns) opening and local festivals celebrating the new vintage.
Winter is quiet. Most of the outdoor attractions lose their appeal, though the Schloss Seggau remains open and the Advent markets in nearby Graz are a half-hour drive away.
