Getting There

Quba is about 170km north of Baku, a two-hour drive on the road through the coastal lowlands of the Absheron peninsula.

By bus: Buses and minibuses to Quba depart from Baku's Avtovağzal (main bus station) throughout the day. The journey takes about 2.5 hours and costs around 5–7 AZN (Azerbaijani manat). Services are frequent enough that you rarely need to book in advance.

By car: Drive north from Baku on the M2 highway through Khachmaz. The road is in good condition all the way to Quba. For the mountains beyond Quba — Khanalygh in particular — a 4WD is advisable on the upper sections of road.

Day trip from Baku: Many visitors come as a day trip from Baku. This is feasible but tight — Quba plus Krasnaya Sloboda fills an easy day, and if you want the mountains as well, plan at least one overnight.
